Job Description:

Are you are experienced in building and managing rapidly growing cloud-based infrastructures and platforms in public clouds at scale? Do you think that automation is almost always the right answer? You’ll get to build our infrastructure and platforms, help design our architecture, fix things when they break and do it with smart, down-to-earth people that enjoy having fun while working together.


  • Design, build and manage all of Wiser’s public cloud-based infrastructures and platforms (including compute, databases, networks, storage, etc.) using modern micro services and distributed systems architectures.
  • Own the technical direction and implementation of the Wiser in-store platform.
  • Provide day-to-day support for the operations of all of our infrastructure, platform, applications and services in our development, testing, performance and production environments.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to build or use tools and scripts to automate anything that can be automated (infrastructure-as-code).
  • Create infrastructure and platforms that are flexible, reliable and can scale rapidly.
  • Treat infrastructure as code, and manage as such.
  • Monitor and improve performance and stability.
  • Investigate failures, fix them and execute root-cause analyses.
  • Interact with and effectively communicate with your DevOps colleagues and cross-functional teams that span our organization. 
  • Maintain regular and reliable work attendance

Skills and Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of AWS (IAM, VPC, EC2, ALB/ELB, ASG, EBS, CloudWatch, Security Groups, Network Routing ACLs, S3, MySQL/PostgreSQL RDS, Redshift, ElastiCache etc.).
  • Expert at Cloud Automation/Provisioning using HashiCorp Terraform/Packer/Vault/Consul. 
  • Security-oriented mindset and familiarity with SOC/PCI DSS compliance regulations.
  • Programming experience in Java, Ruby on Rails, Python or other similar languages.
  • Proficient at working with multiple Linux distributions: Amazon Linux/CentOS/Ubuntu/Alpine.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform a plus.
  • Comfortable administering Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis, Redshift, MySQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, and CircleCI.
  • Ability to write advanced Bash scripts. 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • 5+ years supporting mission-critical online and customer facing applications.
  • Experience working with the Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Comfortable in laaS, PaaS environments.
  • Maintain regular and reliable work attendance.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with Developers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively independently and in teams (local and distributed).
  • Intellectually curious, with a passion for continuous learning and growing professionally.
  • Must be able to provide off-hours support as needed for emergency situations.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, show initiative and respond quickly in an interrupt-driven environment.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Enjoy having fun at work, and desire to collaborate with smart, humble people every day.
