Job Description:

We are looking for an exceptional person to take on a hybrid role of Office Manager (20%) and HR Generalist (80%). Working in our San Mateo office, your job is to help ensure that the office runs smoothly and seamlessly. Responsibilities:

  • Manage on-boarding process for new hires, including background checks, welcome email, entering into HRIS, manager checklist, seating chart, requesting logins, new hire orientation
  • Manage HRIS (Paylocity) and benefit administration (Ease Central), open enrollment process.
  • Involved with employee relations counseling and provides support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leave of absence and visa questions
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance, including ACA compliance and EEO tracking/reporting
  • Familiarity with employee handbook and policies
  • Run and manage Payroll though Paylocity, including state business registration, both exempt and non-exempt payroll, final paychecks.
  • Provide other administrative support specific to HR and office administration
  • Maintain good communication and a positive relationship with managers and employees to promote employee satisfaction 
  • Work alongside office social committee to provide leadership for company culture and events while assisting in scheduling events (birthday treats, company off-site events, etc.)
  • Take ownership and maintain a professional office environment
  • Manage office supplies/equipment as well as kitchen supplies and EAT Club lunch delivery
  • Point of contact for building maintenance items for San Mateo and San Francisco offices
  • Maintain regular and reliable work attendance

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • SHRM Certification is a plus
  • Prior experience working in an HR capacity required (start-up experience preferable)
  • Knowledge of HRIS/Payroll systems – experience with Paylocity is a plus!
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and negotiation skills
